The village offers tasty North Indian cuisine in a delightful ambience with live music. They have outlets in Marathahalli and Indiranagar in Bangalore.
The menu features a good selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian soups and appetizers. The veg combo and non-veg combo appetizer platters are crowd pleasers. The main course includes delicacies in vegetarian, egg, chicken, lamb and fish varieties. Besides these they serve rice dishes, bread, desserts and an assortment of beverages. A typical meal for two costs Rs. 400 and they also undertake catering for parties and special occasions. They do not offer home delivery. They have a lunch buffet from Monday to Friday.
A friend and I landed up at The Village, Indiranagar over a weekday. We were one of the first people to land there for lunch. The staff was polite and led us to a comfortable place. We liked the dhabha like ambience. The lunch has a buffet spread - although we didn't have a big appetite the dishes didn't seem to be too many and we chose to go with the option without starters that works out to Rs. 169 plus taxes. We got a tomato Shorba that was just ok, some naans that were ok, the gravies were good. The gobhi masala and the paneer defn. merit a mention. The pulav and the spicy dal went well together and we liked the halwa served as dessert along with the usual ice cream. Won't call it value for money but nice over all.
The Village has been around in Indiranagar for more than 7 years now but for some reason has a lot of mixed reviews. I decided to go myself and check it out. I didn't get a chance till a Friday night when a few friends decided to meet up here for dinner. The location kind of inked the place for us. The la carte menu had a lot of options. After much thinking we decided on Tandoori Mushroom, Mutton Seekh Kabab and the Subz shorba to start with. We got Guffa Khaas kofta, Murg Lababdaar, Gosht Saagwala and dal bhukara khaas. The kofta was good but we were not too impressed with the mutton dish. We also asked for a Biryani which was ok. We decided to give the desserts a miss. The price is defn. on the expensive side and good for the experience it offers. Service is not the highlight of the place but not bad.
Marathahalli is chock-a-block with a lot of offices and probably that's how the Village gets so many people over the weekdays. Very smartly they have introduced the lunch buffet system so that the office goers have organize a lunch party here within fixed costs. The ambience is nothing unique but then during the lunch hours we do not really get much opportunity to enjoy the ambience. A team of 10 colleagues had accompanied me here. We opted for the lunch buffet with starters option. We got a hara bhara kabab, pakoda, tala hua murgh and seekh kabab for starters. The seekh and the hara bhara kabab was good out of the lot. The gravies were not all that original and were decent with the rotis/naans. The pulav was not that great and the desserts were passable. I felt that the food was overpriced for the quality.
Marathahalli Outer Ring Road has a lot of options to eat and for some reasons my friends thought that it would be a good idea to have an early dinner in The Village before heading off to Innovative to catch a movie. We were a group of vegetarians and decided to keep our dinner simple to catch the movie on time. We skipped the starters and soups and went in straight for the khana. We ordered for a Kumbh Hara Pyaaz, Shahi Paneer and a Makai Palak with some rotis and ordered a plate of Biryani for the rice eaters. The service needs to be upped, although we were ready with our orders in 5 minutes the service staff materialized only after some time. We specifically told them to make our orders fast as we had to be leave soon. However the order took a good 30 mintues to arrive. And they got all the dishes together We thought the food was decent - the main course was tasty but we had no time to linger. This place has potential but a lot of work is required too.
